MINI SERIES OF CONFERENCES (Throughout the year)

Some of our major sponsors take the time to come meet us and discuss various interesting topic. In past years, a bank would discuss finances that would benefit students within the program but also future business/clinic owners. Some private clinics choose to present a conference, present the advantages of their clinics. Come support the sponsors who help us fund our events. There is always a free lunch or snacks provided!

ACADEMIC EVENTS

GLOBAL HEALTH CONFERENCE (Throughout the year)

A new initiative at McGill has begun a few years back, introducing ‘global’ to health. More and more, clinicians seek to help those abroad, teach the professionals in developing countries to fine tune their skills, collaborate to make better rehabilitation programs. You can attend these free conferences and listen to various Healthcare professionals from different backgrounds share their international experiences. Snacks are provided at each meeting!

CAREER FAIR (March)

SPOTGSA organizes a fair during the winter semester in collaboration with CaPS (Career Planning Service) where clinics, hospitals and centers all across Canada come to meet students in PTOT, Nursing and SLP (speech language pathologist). Students can present their CVs and get the chance to see all the opportunities they can have once they graduate from the program.

NAMETAG CEREMONY (Winter semester)

As a transition from U3/QY to Masters, students attend this ceremony at the end of their undergraduate/qualifying year where they receive their nametag by their professors. This nametag identifies the students as rehab students while entering their clinical placements during their graduate year. This once in a life-time event is very memorable and a definite one to attend.

OT/PT Kitchen (Winter semester)

What better way to learn about international placements than through a potluck with delicious foods. Come meet M1 students who have been abroad for 1 of their 4 placements. Learn about how to apply, what to prepare, what to expect and how to share your clinical experience with the next cohort. Students have travelled go India, Switzerland, France, England, USA, Barbados and Israel. Come share food and experiences!
