WELCOME BBQ (September)

At the beginning of the semester in early September, SPOTGSA and POTUS together host Welcoming BBQ where undergrads and masters students in The School Occupational and Physical Therapy gather together to socialize. It will be held at the field between David’s and Hosmer’s house. There will be non-alcoholic drinks, food, and some sports (to be specified) provided for the students. It is not only a perfect opportunity for students in the same cohort to get together, but also a great event for students to meet people from different years. Let students start the year with a great get-together event.

SOCIAL EVENTS

QUALIFYING YEAR HOUSEWARMING WINE AND CHEESE (September)

First year master’s students, who obtained their Bachelor’s degree in a field of study other than Physical or Occupational Therapy, must complete a “qualifying year” which requires them to join the third year undergraduate class in all professional courses. As an integrative initiative, POTUS organizes a wine and cheese to welcome our new colleagues at the beginning of the school year. You have the opportunity to meet your peers, future colleages, network with SPOT professors and enjoy a little bit of wine!

POTLUCK PICNIC (September)

END OF SEMESTER PARTIES

After long hours of study and countless sleepless nights, after overdosing on caffeine and scrambling to finish assignments and projects, after overeating due to stress, it is time to party! Let loose by dancing and going out with friends! There is no better way to relax than by spending energy partying and gaining more calories from drinks.

MASTER GRAD BALL (May)

You simply cannot miss such a big event that sums up your journey through your Masters. It is a transition to your career. Celebrate one last time with all the amazing friends you made in the past 2 years. A toast with wine, an occasion to dress up (and not wear the usual sportive outfits used to endless labs), a time of celebration, to rejoice your achievements! Don’t miss out on possibly your last graduation in life!

OPEN AIR PUB - OAP (August & April)

There is only one way to start and end a stable school year, and that is at OAP! Tradition dictates that each McGillian must celebrate with cold beer and cheap cheese burgers on a hot (hopefully) sunny day near the y-intersection. Enjoy the company of friends until the dark hours when the music starts with live concerts. Be prepared for a line though, students upon students will make the line to enter this outdoor pop-up pub. Bring your student ID, some money and let the pyramid of plastic begin!

FACULTY OLYMPICS (February)

Do you have a competitive spirits? Do you want to show your friends from other faculties how great we are in PTOT? Participate in Fac’O. This is definitely one of the crazier events on campus. 1 week long, tons of beer, lots of friends. Participate in academic and sportive events a cross campus. Don’t forget: drink responsibly and consent is sexy.

PTOT GAMES (January)

Every year in January, 900+ Occupational and Physical Therapy students across Quebec gather to compete, network, learn, promote and share the love of the OTPT field. Over the course of three days, students will challenge each other in athletic, academic, spirit and dance events. OT/PT Games is a jam-packed weekend of fun and activities where students will be able to represent McGill and meet other students in the undergraduate and master’s program. Each team of 8 will compete in 3 sports (e.g. wheelchair basketball, ultimate frisbee, waterpolo). There are also 4 challenges prepared before the actualy weekd, which includes a dance, an art piece (banner, mascot), a video and an instagram challenge. A definite MUST for the University experience.

SUGAR SHACK (March)

It has been tradition to get our annual dose of sugar at a sugar shack among friends! With some good country music, a dance floor to booby all night long and the typical maple syrup food. If weather permits it, maybe even some snowball fights or a small trek in the back of the shack! Prices for the event include the meal and the transportation. You can’t miss out on tired d’érable!
