BUDDY SYTEM

What is the Buddy System?

The buddy system is a volunteer service that provides incoming Master students to better integrate within the McGill PTOT community. If a U3/QY student chooses so, they will be paired up with a M1 student (one year above), who can give excellent tips and advice based on their past experience.

What can/should you ask you Buddy?

Anything you like! You can talk about school related topics such as books to buy, course load, where to study, what to expect. If your are new to the city, this is a great opportunity to make friends early and discover the Montreal! You can ask about lodgin, places to eat, attractions to visit, what to do, where to get the best poutine, etc. Feel free to ask about all your concerns. We want to ensure your transition goes as smoothly and pleasently as possible.

Who can I be Buddies with?

You may decide to be paired with a Master Year 1 student, who are better catered to answer academic questions AND/OR a year 3 undergraduate student, who will be in the same year?cohort as you. There is no such thng as making friends too soon.

How do I sign up for a Buddy?

Please email you name, your program and year (U3 r QY) to SPOTGSA president: vi.ma@mail.mcgill.ca. Please mention if you would like a M1 and/or U3 buddy.

When will I know who I am paired up?

Within the first week of school

How do I contact my Buddy?

You will be provided the contact information of your buddy. There are also 2 great opportunities to meet in person organized by SPOTGSA: the welcome BBQ which is open to all cohorts and the potluck picnic on the mountain exclusive to Master students.

Success! Message received.
